To sight see locally there are the Gaganchukki and the Bharrachukki waterfalls, on the river Cauvery.
On the historic front you could visit the magnificent Somnathpur Temple or the temples at Talakad built in the 6th century AD. The temples at the banks of the river Cauvery have sandy banks and make a good inland beach effect.
